HSE Funding
HSE fertility funding is available in Ireland for some people experiencing infertility. This may include access to publicly funded fertility treatments for eligible patients who meet the current HSE criteria. The process begins with your GP, who can refer you to a regional fertility hub. If specialist fertility treatment is recommended, you can choose an approved fertility clinic, including Thérapie Fertility.

Thérapie Fertility is an approved healthcare provider
Thérapie Fertility is an approved healthcare provider for eligible patients referred through the fertility treatment HSE pathway. This means that, if you meet the HSE criteria and are referred for specialist fertility treatment through a regional fertility hub, you will be able to choose our clinic for your treatment. Eligibility is assessed through the HSE pathway, so your first step is to speak with your GP. GP’s are the only ones who can refer you to a regional fertility hub.

What is covered by the HSE programme?
The HSE programme may cover publicly funded fertility treatment for eligible patients. This may include up to 3 cycles of IUI, and or 1 cycle of IVF or ICSI, depending on what your regional fertility hub and specialist recommend.
At present, access is based on specific HSE criteria. These criteria include age, BMI, residency in Ireland and if you have more than one child. The HSE does not currently provide treatment that requires donor eggs or donor sperm. The criteria have changed recently and may change again in the future. We will continue to update our information to reflect the latest HSE guidance.

If you do not currently meet the HSE criteria, you may still have other options. Our team can talk you through private fertility treatment, testing and next steps in a clear and supportive way. If you have private health insurance, this may assist you with your fees. Additionally, our partner Humm can provide finance to enable you to break down the cost of treatment over a longer period of time.
At present, HSE-funded fertility treatment is not available for people who need donor eggs or donor sperm to conceive. The criteria may change in the future, so we recommend checking the latest HSE guidance.
After your referral is sent, the regional fertility hub will review your situation and may arrange tests or consultations. If you are referred to our clinic for treatment, our team will contact you to arrange your first appointment.
Your GP must refer you to a regional fertility hub. Patients cannot self-refer directly for HSE-funded IVF, ICSI or IUI.
