Fertility tests for women
Fertility testing can give you valuable information about your reproductive health, whether you are trying to conceive, planning for the future, or simply want to understand your options.
At Thérapie Fertility, our fertility tests for women include blood tests and transvaginal ultrasound scans. Together, they give us a clearer picture of your ovarian reserve and reproductive health so that we can talk you through your possible next steps.
You do not need to be ready for fertility treatment to have testing. Many women choose a fertility test as part of their wider health and wellness planning, helping them make informed decisions with greater confidence.

What fertility tests are available for women?
Fertility tests for women are assessments that help us understand different parts of reproductive health. They may include Hormone Blood Tests, such as an AMH test, and a Transvaginal Ultrasound to assess the uterus and ovaries. In some cases, a HyCoSy may also be recommended to check the uterus and fallopian tubes.
No single test can tell the full story of your fertility. That is why we look at your results alongside your age, medical history, menstrual cycle, previous results, and personal goals. Looking at all of these factors helps our fertility specialists give you personalised advice, rather than basing it on a single result.
Fertility testing can help you understand your ovarian reserve, how your ovaries may respond to treatment, whether further checks may be helpful, and which options may be most suitable for you

Why get fertility tests?
A fertility test can help you understand your reproductive health and plan ahead. This can be especially valuable because egg numbers naturally decline over time, and the earlier you have information, the more time you may have to consider your options.
Your results can help identify which next steps may be most suitable, whether that is further testing, IUI, fertility treatment, or consideration of fertility preservation.
AMH is an important marker of ovarian reserve, but it is only one part of the picture. It should always be reviewed alongside your age, medical history, and other relevant results. If treatment is recommended, your results may also help guide plans for options such as IVF.
We also aim to avoid unnecessary repeat testing. If you have recent results from another clinic or your GP, we will review them where possible before recommending any further tests.

Fertility testing can give valuable information about your reproductive health, but it cannot guarantee whether or when you will get pregnant. It helps build a clearer picture of your fertility potential and can guide decisions around treatment, timing, and future planning.
Not always. If you have had recent fertility tests and the results are still clinically suitable, we may not need to repeat them. We encourage patients to share previous results to avoid unnecessary testing and additional costs where possible.
Yes. You can have fertility testing without moving on to treatment. Many women choose testing to understand their fertility health and future options better. Your results can help you plan, even if you are not ready to make any immediate decisions.
The main fertility tests for women usually include AMH testing, hormone blood tests, transvaginal ultrasound, and, in some cases, HyCoSy. These tests help assess ovarian reserve, the uterus and ovaries, and whether the fallopian tubes appear open.
Fertility tests range in cost from 100 to 400 depending on which clinic or healthcare facility you attend. Your local GP may be able to carry out some of the more basic fertility testing for you. At Thérapie Fertility an AMH or semen analysis is 100.
Yes, we do, and we encourage patients to send in results when they have had testing elsewhere to save the cost of repeating tests.
To make sure that the sample is usable, we usually recommend that you abstain from sex or masturbation for several days before the test, avoid alcohol, caffeine, and other stimulants before the sperm analysis and avoid providing a sample when unwell or stressed. We would ask that you inform our team of any medications or herbal remedies you are taking, before giving a sample.
Yes. Without thorough testing and assessment, we have no way of determining the correct treatment path for you. Once we have a clear picture of your medical and fertility health, we will be able to assist you with a treatment plan that will give you the best chance at a successful outcome.
